Student excuses

The value of a good education means that as a student, you are expected to attend each and every course offering within the semester.

We know that emergencies happen that are beyond your control, but keeping in open and honest communication with your professors, via face-to-face contact, email or texting, will ensure your academic success.

Below are the "missing class" criteria that are policy-approved for an electronic excuse that will be shared directly with your professor:

  1.   "Verified" Illness (If you did not seek medical attention off campus or did not visit the University Health Center your excuse request will not be granted)
  2.  Death in immediate family with proof (e.g., statement from funeral home, death certificate, obituary)
  3.  University authorized business
  4.  Military duty
  5.  Civic duty (i.e., time for voting or serving on jury duty, not court appearances for misconduct)

Take a picture or screenshot of the documentation and email to studentexcuse@alasu.edu.

The notification will be emailed directly to instructor(s).  Students will be notified only if your request has been denied or if additional documentation is needed.
