You've seen the popular forensic crime series on television -- "CSI," "Extreme Forensics," "Forensic Files." Now, students interested in career fields in forensic sciences can experience "CSI:ASU," as the University offers two new degree programs in this exciting field of study.
Bachelor's Degrees
Alabama State University's College of Science, Mathematics and Technology offers the following degree programs in Forensic Science:
ASU's Bachelor of Science in Forensic Chemistry and the Bachelor of Science in Forensic Biology is the only one of its kind offered by a public college or university in Alabama. The program will prepare students to pursue advanced education and enter professional careers in the Forensic Sciences. Student applications will be accepted through the Forensic Science Programs office in ASU’s Department of Physical Sciences.
Master's Degree
The Master of Science degree in Forensic Science at ASU is one of only two programs offered by public universities in Alabama. The 42-hour program is designed to prepare graduate students with science majors to enter and practice in the field of forensic evidence examination. Graduate students applying to the program must meet general requirements for admission to the School of Graduate Studies.
Facilities
Both programs are housed in ASU’s 50,000 square-foot Robert C. Hatch Forensic Science building, which is shared with the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences. The facility currently houses state-of-the-art forensic science laboratories, classrooms and a moot courtroom.
