STEM CENTER OF EXCELLENCE FOR MODELING AND SIMULATION RESEARCH (SCEMSR)

 

ABOUT SCEMSR

The STEM Center of Excellence for Modeling and Simulation Research (SCEMSR) provides research facilities for the selected aspects of STEM Modeling and Simulation research by way of algorithm developments, modeling, simulation, analysis, design, testing and performance evaluation and support technology transfer to our sponsors. The STEM Center Develops and suggests new curriculum for the STEM Programs based on recommendations from industry sponsors and results from the center research. It supports and trains students by awarding scholarships, undergraduate and graduate assistantships and create pipeline with the industry partners for students’ placements.


CENTER’S FACILITIES

SCEMSR has established two research Programs: Software Engineering and Complex Systems Research and Biomedical Engineering Modeling and Simulation Research Programs. It occupies over 2000 square feet of research laboratory and office space with state of the art facilities. Partial list is as follows:

  • Software Engineering and Complex Systems Research Facility
  • Digit Biomedical Engineering Modeling and Simulation Research Facility
  • Cyber Security and Virtual Environments Research Facility
  • Energy Modeling and Simulation Research Facility
  • Advanced Computing and Informatics Modeling Research Facility
  • Various Simulation Facilities (OPNET, MATLAB, FEMLAB, CADENCE, LABVIEW, etc.) 
  • Unix Server and Client facility

AREA OF EXPERTISE IN RESEARCH

Software Engineering Systems, Modeling and Simulation of Wavelet & Wavelet Transform-Based Systems Applications, Network Modeling and Performance Analysis, Network Management and Security Design, xDSL System Modeling and Simulation Analysis, Sensor Research, Control System Analysis Modeling and Simulation, Modeling and Simulation of Biometrics for Network and Homeland Security.

Future Efforts

The STEM Center of Excellence for Modeling and Simulation Research (SCEMSR) is unique within the State of Alabama and the Nation. SCEMSR will continue on educating the State’s future leaders in the emerging highly technological areas of modeling and simulation necessary for our industries, institutions and for the economic growth of the State of Alabama and the Nation. Efforts will be made to establish more partnerships with industry and various national security and Systems agencies.
