Please provide official transcripts from all schools previously attended (secondary school and/or college). Transcripts, if not in English, must be translated into English by an official translation service. Taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required if your native language is not English. Minimum acceptable scores are 500 (paper-based exam), 173 (computer-based exam) or 61 (internet-based exam). Also, the English language requirement will be met upon completion of Level 112 at a Language Center. Please send an official copy of your score to the above address.

Students from English-speaking countries, such as the United Kingdom, Canada (except Quebec), Nigeria, etc., are exempt from English proficiency score requirements. Additionally, international students who have completed a degree program at a regionally accredited U.S. institution are exempt from English proficiency requirements.

To apply for admissions, your transcripts and test scores must fall within these ranges:

• GPA 2.0-2.49 and 18 ACT or 860 SAT
  
• GPA 2.5-2.99 and 17 ACT or 820 SAT
  
• GPA 3.0-3.49 and 16 ACT or 770 SAT
  
• GPA 3.50 or higher and 15 ACT or 720 SAT to apply for admission

After applying, you will receive a student ID number; this does not imply that you have been fully admitted.
NOTE: If you are entering Alabama State University as an international student, the Form I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility) will be issued only after all requirements have been met and you have been provided with a letter of admission.

A transfer student must have attempted 15 hours or more of college-level courses, with a 2.0 GPA or above.

• You must submit your OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS from every college or university you have attended. We are unable to make an admissions decision with unofficial transcripts. Once we have received all of your official transcripts from every institution you have attended, we will then notify you in writing of our admissions decision. If you have not yet been notified in writing, we are still missing some of your official transcripts. 
• If you have attempted 14 hours or fewer, you are considered a Freshman Transfer.

A COMPLETED Transfer Application (students with 15 credit hours or more) consists of:

• Completed online application
  
• Paid $30 application fee 
  
• OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS from every college or university you have attended. 
  

To be admitted to the Harold Loyd Murphy Graduate School at Alabama State University, you must have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university. You also must have maintained a minimum GPA of 2.5 as an undergraduate. For both the Alternative A and Traditional Master’s programs in Education, we also require a minimum GPA of 2.5.

• If you are planning to pursue a Master of Accountancy degree, you need a minimum 2.75 undergraduate GPA and 3.0 graduate GPA.

In addition to completing your application, you’ll submit additional documentation through GradCAS, including:

• A résumé
  
• GRE/MAT test scores
  
• GMAT scores (Master of Accountancy only)
  
• Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  
• Three professional letters of recommendation. These should come from individuals who can speak positively about your ability to do graduate-level work in your desired field.
  Statement of Purpose: This is where you state your purpose and objective for seeking a graduate degree. Be sure to mention any employment and academic experiences related to the field you plan to study.
  
• If you are applying for graduate admission to the Alternative, Educational Specialist, Doctoral, Instructional Leadership or Social Work programs, additional documents may be required.

Nonimmigrant students who wish to apply and participate in an online degree program at Alabama State University may do so while located outside of the U.S., but they are responsible for understanding several conditions and specific requirements related to international authorization and licensure within their home country.
