Derriya Sankey currently serves as the Director of the Office of Accessibility and Veteran Affairs at Alabama State University (ASU) and liaison/advocate for registered students with disabilities. Ms. Sankey is dedicated to providing vision, planning, and implementation of a program for students with disabilities that creates equal access to the curriculum, activities, and physical campus in adherence to University, state, and federal regulations. Ms. Sankey has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Rehabilitation Services with a Concentration in Addictions and a Master’s of Rehabilitation Counseling. She is an active member of the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) and the Alabama Counseling Association (ALCA). Ms. Sankey is also a School Certifying Officer and assists with certifying students that are recipients of VA Benefits: Chapter 31, Chapter 33, Chapter 35, and Chapter 1606.
