Three student-cadets from Alabama State University's Air Force ROTC Detachment-019 were commissioned as second lieutenants in the United States Air Force during a ceremony held on May 4, in Montgomery, Alabama.
ASU’s ROTC commander, Lt. Col. Lisa C. Boyer, shared that the commissioned officers are Michael Wooldridge, a Business Administration major from Alamogordo, New Mexico; Alondra Rosales-Barrera, a Criminal Justice major from Montgomery, Alabama; and William Parbs, a Business Administration and Management major from Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

Lt. Col. Boyer explained that she and the Air Force are proud that these student-cadets are now embarking upon a journey of service to the nation.
"Our students exude the qualities and traits of the Air Force's core values, which are integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all they do," said Boyer, who also serves as a professor of Aerospace Studies at ASU. "They represent less than one percent of the American population who take this leap, raise their right hand and swear an oath to the U.S. Constitution to become an officer in the United States Air Force."
Boyer stated that two out of three of ASU's student-cadets receive Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps tuition scholarships that are aimed at helping them focus on their number-one mission as a student, which is their academics.
"I am extremely proud of Cadet Rosales-Barrera, Cadet Parbs, and Cadet Wooldridge because they leave strong legacies at the detachment that will inspire other cadets to commit to this notion of service," Boyer quipped. "I would happily serve with any of them should I ever have the opportunity to do so and have no doubt that they will bring honor to the uniform that they continue to wear."
