An Alabama State University alumnus has recently been hired by Delta Airlines for a senior position in its Atlanta headquarters.

A member of ASU’s class of 1995, William B. Cossey, Jr., is the new managing director of Delta's Supply Chain Operations where he will lead supply chain support for the company’s offices of Airport Services, Cargo, Corporate Travel and Logistics.

ASU’s Col. (ret.) Gregory Clark, who is the vice president of Institutional Advancement and the executive director of the Alabama State University Foundation, explained that Cossey is a committed and active member of the Hornet Nation Family, and he serves as the new treasurer of The ASU Foundation.

"He is among the finest and hardest working members of the Foundation's leadership," said Col. Clark. "He brings a lot of financial knowledge and where-with-all to the Board and is a tremendous help to us as we raise funds to support both our students and the greater University. It is very apparent that he loves Alabama State tremendously, which dates back since his graduation, and includes such things as being a longtime season ticket holder to actively pursuing all avenues at his disposal to raise funds to advance The Alabama State University in all ways possible."

BACKGROUD IN FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP

Cossey has nearly three decades of experience in the arena of corporate leadership, including financial, operational, strategic planning, process improvement and supply chain management within the public and private sectors. Most recently, he was the senior vice president and chief development officer for ProComm LLC, which is an Atlanta-based private firm.

Before his tenure with ProComm, Cossey served for 26 years with Cox Enterprises and held high-level leadership positions in such areas as human resource technology, business operations, program management, and much more. His successful and extensive background also included employment with PriceWaterhouse LLC as an auditor in the company’s oil and gas, financial services and extractive industries.

Clark said the combination of Cossey’s professional and military experience will make him a tremendous asset in his new position at Delta.

"Delta could not have hired a better person than Mr. Cossey because in addition to being a proud graduate of O' Mother Dear, he is a veteran of the U.S. Armed Services and served our nation with distinction during Operation Desert Storm," explained Col. Clark. "Mr. Cossey is a very impressive person both publicly and privately, and we are proud for him."
