Alabama State University continues to be "Where History is Made" as the University now is among the first Historically Black College or Universities (HBCUs) to offer cannabis education programs as elective study courses. ASU also joins Jacksonville State University as one of only two schools in the state of Alabama to offer courses concerning legalized cannabis.
ASU has five different online cannabis programs: Cannabis Healthcare and Medicine; Cannabis Agriculture and Horticulture; The Business of Cannabis; Cannabis Compliance and Risk Management; and Cannabis Product Development and Design.
The programs at Alabama State University are provided in association with Green Flower, a cannabis education and training company that focuses on educating those interested in working within the nation's legal cannabis workforce.
STATE LAW PASSED IN 2021
The Alabama legislature legalized cannabis for specific medical conditions in 2021, becoming the 36th state in the Union to do so. Since then, a total of 47 states have passed similar laws.
A number of specifics concerning the mechanics of Alabama's new law are still being orchestrated, and until they are concluded, cannabis medical products are not available for legal purchase in Alabama.
