Join the University's National Center for the Study of Civil Rights and African American Culture (National Center) for "Book Talk,"  in honor of Black History Month. The event takes place on Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. in the Levi Watkins Learning Center's (ASU library) Lecture Hall,  located on the building’s first floor.

The National Center's executive director and dean of the Levi Watkins Learning Center, Dr. Janice Franklin, shared that the theme of the Book Talk is "African Americans + Labor." The co-sponsors of the event are the ASU Department of History and Political Science and ASU's Department of Languages and Literature.

"Our National Center event is centered on race and class and is an analysis of labor in African American literary works," Dean Franklin said. "Our program participants leading the discussion are Dr. Jacqueline Trimble, chairwoman of ASU's Department of Languages and Literature (and an acclaimed author) and Dr. Frank Moorer, retired Alabama State professor from within the same department."
