Hornet Nation and the community are invited to join Alabama State University President, Dr. Quinton T. Ross, Jr., and other University leaders as they launch a three-day celebration for ASU’s 157th Birthday. The events will recognize WVAS 90.7 FM's 40th Anniversary as well.

The festivities begin Tuesday, July 16, and culminate on Thursday, July 18, at the ASU Alumni House with an Alumni & Friends Cookout and Jam Session.

The revelry will offer a historic opportunity to recognize ASU’s extraordinary past, communicate the impact of the present and look toward the potential of ASU’s future.

“This is a special time to look back on our distinguished past and reflect upon the University’s continuing role as a leader in education and research and as a valuable asset to our community, our state,  our nation and the world,” said Ross.
Ross noted the University emphasizes its commitment to student success as one of the pillars of its mission. Since being founded in 1867, Alabama State University has produced thousands of graduates who continue to make an impact through their achievements.

“ASU has been transforming lives for 157 years. As a matter of fact, we measure our success by the success of our students, who graduate from here and leave to make their mark on the world. Alabama State University is truly the place ‘Where History Is Made,’” Ross added.
