The beginning of a new year is a time that sees many people both starting a news business or making modifications to an existing one. Alabama State University's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has a free-of-charge, special, two-hour live virtual course being offered on the evening of Dec. 15, which will give the "ABC's" to business entrepreneurs that will help make doing so more understandable, successful and profitable.

Andrea Rogers Mosley, the director of the Small Business Development Center, explains that Alabama State's SBDC course is titled 'Entrepreneurship 101: How To Start A Business in Alabama and Write A Business Plan' and it takes place from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in a live virtual format. She states that while it is free, registration is required and interested parties may do so by signing-up online at: https://asbdc.ecenterdirect.com/events/9367

"During our informative virtual workshop, participants will learn the basics of how to start a business in Alabama and put together a coherent business plan which will act as their road map to success," Mosley states. "I will help work each participant through all things they need to understand in a broad format about opening a new small business or expanding an existing one so they may navigate through the red-tape and regulations, which may be challenging without some insight into what departments of government one needs to contact and what forms to fill out and file."

A SUCCESSFUL SMALL BUSINESS IS IMPORTANT TO A SOUND ECONOMY
Mosley stated that the success of America's small businesses are paramount to the healthiness of the nation and its citizens prosperity.

"Small businesses are the veritable backbone of our economy. Their vibrancy and success help fund good roads, equipment for fire departments and law enforcement, healthcare for those in need, clean water and even our nation's military, to name but a few, which their tax money supports," Mosley stated. "That is why Alabama State pursues these free small business classes due to the University's dedication to President Quinton T. Ross, Jr.'s ideal of what he calls 'CommUniversity,' which is utilizing all things ASU so they may contribute to the success and welfare of the residents and institutions, which ASU exists within."

NOTE: Instructions for signing up for the Dec. 15 session will be forwarded to participants after they register (see link above)  in a separate email that they will receive 30 minutes before the event begins. Once signed in, they will enter a ZOOM meeting. The deadline to register is on the day of the event - Dec. 15 - no later than 5 p.m.
