The office of Career Services at Alabama State University is hosting an in-person
Career and Job Fair on Tuesday (Oct. 18) from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. inside the ASU Dunn-Oliver
Acadome. The event will feature more than 80 employers who are looking to hire employees—some
on the spot!
The event is open to the general public as well as to ASU's student body, explained
the coordinator of the event, Dr. Sabrina L. Crowder, director of Career Services at the University.
"We truly care about the local residents and of course about ASU students being able
to be fully or part-time employed; therefore, we began organizing this event, which
has employers who are based locally, statewide and also from other areas of the nation
who are here to obtain quality new employees," Crowder said. "At ASU and within our
office, we have a commitment to President Ross's ideal of CommUniversity, which is
giving back and helping others outside of the campus. CommUniversity is the University’s
tradition and is our commitment to develop and maintain programs consistent with the
University’s mission statement that allows us to be responsive to the needs of individual
citizens, public groups, and agencies within the city of Montgomery, the River Region
and the Black Belt."
Crowder recommends that all who attend should dress appropriately for a job interview
and have several copies of their resumes with them to give to potential employers.
"Some of the employers may just hire individuals on-the-spot; so we ask that everyone come prepared and be dressed professionally and with a little luck and good preparation, they may just land their dream job at Alabama State University's Career Fair," Crowder stated.
