Five student-scholars who are enrolled in Alabama State University's Percy J. Vaughn
College of Business Administration (COBA) placed third in the prestigious HP HBCU
Business Challenge, which is held annually.
COBA students who took home the 'bronze' award are Raegan Ballinger, Devin Chambliss, Courtney Conners, Juan Rodriguez and Cherish Womack. All these Hornets had advanced earlier in the year through the general competition,
winning over dozens of other teams to advance to the finals where they competed in
a class of only five schools nationwide.
The HP judges said the finals were a very close competition and complimented the ASU team.
"Alabama State's students did an amazing job and wowed all of us who were judging them. They all were very impressive in their presentation," stated the HP Challenge's judges, in a written statement.
The dean of ASU's COBA, Dr. Kamal Hingorani, was equally pleased with the team.
"Our ASU students did a phenomenal job in what we have been told by the judges was a very close call in a tight competition," Hingorani said. "I want to publicly recognize the great amount of hard work our students put forth in their near-perfect presentation. They are all number-one in my opinion."
