A current and insightful discussion on the academic leadership that is taking place on university campuses in the era of COVID-19 will take place virtually on Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. Alabama State University President Dr. Quinton T. Ross, Jr., will join Tuskegee University President Charlotte P. Morris and Grambling University President Rick Gallot, Jr., as panelists for the event, titled "Academic Leadership in the Era of COVID-19," which will be moderated by Dr. Keith Hargrove, provost of Tuskegee University. "I am excited about this discussion that centers on the leadership that has been needed to guide colleges and universities, particularly HBCUs, through the pandemic," said Ross. "I am grateful for Alabama State University's team of academic and operations leaders who continue to work diligently to ensure that we maintain a high level of academic excellence while providing the necessary services for our students and keeping the campus safe for those who live, learn and work at this University."

ASU's President Ross has been cited in numerous news media articles and broadcasts over the last two-years for leading the charge early in the fight against COVID-19 not only on the ASU campus, but also in the community at-large. Under his guidance, the University has partnered with agencies such as the Alabama Department of Public Health and the Montgomery Housing Authority, as well as the Montgomery Public School System and Hyundai Motor Manufacturing of Alabama to provide employee and student testing and vaccinations. Ross has also been recognized for his innovative approach to campus safety, including drone spraying of athletic facilities.
