Alabama State University continues to celebrate Black History Month with its new art exhibition, titled @WeCreateChangeAl, at the Warren Britt Galleries in the Tullibody Fine Arts Center on the ASU campus. The exhibit, which is sponsored by 21 Dreams Arts & Culture, will run through March 11.
“This exhibition is an extension of the @WeCreateChangeAL collaborativ
e art exhibition that opened in the Kress Building downtown last month,” said artist Nathaniel Allen, chairperson of ASU’s Department of Visual Arts. The exhibition features politically charged artwork from 17 exhibiting artists who created more than 40 works of art. The artwork examines several social and political issues impacting Alabama, including mass incarceration, voter suppression and banning of critical race theory.
A special presentation titled “Art x Social Change” is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on March 6 at the galleries.
