ASU Commencement Speaker: Alumnus and Educator Ronnie Thomas

Alabama State University is holding an in-person Fall 2021 Commencement Convocation on December 3 (Friday) at the ASU Stadium. The commencement speaker will be ASU alumnus Ronnie Thomas, a veteran educator and an active member of the Hornet Nation Family. Two graduation ceremony sessions will be held on that day, one at 8:45 a.m. and the other at 1:45 p.m.
Please note that the University will observe CDC recommended COVID safety guidelines. ASU is a mask-mandatory campus.
ABOUT OUR COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER
Thomas is a native of Birmingham who now resides in Atlanta. He graduated from Alabama State University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. A two-time Teacher-of-the-Year Award recipient, Thomas has also conducted research with NASA’s Reduced Gravity Education Flight Program.
He is the founder of the Georgia Science & Robotics Academy, Inc. and Fun Weird Science, LLC, the programming brand for the Georgia Science & Robotics Academy, Inc. The group provides impactful K-12 STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) enrichment for teachers and students through professional development, teacher cohort coaching, STEM Saturdays, summer STEM enrichment and interactive science shows.
Thomas is an enthusiastic and passionate, technology-driven educator with 20 years of STEM teaching experience and a solid commitment to the social, academic and developmental growth of every student. He has had the opportunity to influence thousands of young people and educators through speeches and presentations in various venues across the nation. He is a committed ASU alumnus who is known for his widespread attention and commitment to coming back to campus and helping the University's students. He is an ambassador for his alma mater through his membership in ASU’s prestigious "50 Under 50" organization.

INFORMATION ON ASU'S TWO COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES
There will be two commencement ceremonies held on Dec. 3, which are designated to be held for students by the college in which students obtained their respective degree within. Each candidate for graduation will be issued ten tickets for their guests.
Please note that ALL guests must have a valid ticket before being admitted to the stadium.

Please note that the University will be enforcing its Clear Bag Policy. Also, each person must have their temperature checked prior to entering the venue, which is done to safeguard all who attend from the coronavirus.
