Greetings ASU Hornets and Partners.

I am delighted to share with you the new Alabama State University (ASU) Strategic Plan. This plan was created by and for our community and stakeholders, and has been endorsed by the ASU Board of Trustees. This document represents many months of research, analysis and careful thought by scores of staff, faculty, students and community members.

Focus 2030: The Strategic Plan for Alabama State University provides a detailed roadmap of how ASU will advance its legacy, strategically bridge communities and work to build a sustainable future. Our plan draws upon the Institution’s rich history, which has evidenced an exemplary ability to break down barriers as well as explore new frontiers. Our vision is focused on how we, as a community, can align our efforts to contribute to the University’s overall mission.

I ask that you review this document carefully and embrace its ideals. The university-wide goals and metrics will ensure that Alabama State University remains attentive to its priorities and promotes efficacy. Continuous improvement is at the core of our roadmap, challenging all of us to focus our strengths to position ASU as one of the world’s leading Doctoral/Professional HBCU’s.

We have the will, we have the plan, now we must all work together implement our strategies successfully.

I offer my gratitude to the many individuals and groups who were instrumental in this process and gave so generously of their time and ideas to craft this plan. I look forward to everyone's continued involvement in implementing Focus 2030: The Strategic Plan for Alabama State University.

Sincerely,

Quinton T. Ross, Jr.
