Alabama State University's Buzz Run 5K is this Saturday (Aug. 17), beginning at 7 a.m. The race starts and finishes at The ASU Stadium. Through this Wednesday, participants can take advantage of a flash sale with registration priced at only $20, which is a $25 savings.
ASU invites walkers and runners of all levels to participate as individuals or as groups.
All participants receive a shirt, hat, and a special medal, with overall winners being awarded in each age group.
In addition, ASU is hosting an event for children aged 4 - 12 called Stinger's Fun Run that takes place at 8:30 a.m., immediately following the Buzz Run 5K. The Fun Run takes place at The ASU Stadium football field. Children may race against ASU's mascot, Stinger, in a 100-yard dash. Entry is only $15 per child.
After the races have concluded, join in the fun at the ASU Buzz Fest that starts at 9 a.m. at The ASU Stadium where you can meet coaches and members of the Hornets football team, get autographs and hear the Mighty Marching Hornets Band's drumline. The football team will also scrimmage. This event is open to the public and is free of charge.
After Wednesday, registration for the Buzz Run 5K is $45 per entry through Friday and $50 on the day of the event, which is Saturday.
