ASU's WVAS 90.7 Launches Two New Programs to Celebrate Women's History Month

Two new radio programs debuted on March 7 at WVAS-FM (The “Voice of Alabama State University”) that celebrate 'Women’s History Month' and highlight issues that essentially pertain to women, but are also of interest to men.
Candy Capel, the station's manager and award-winning leader of Alabama State University's National Public Radio (NPR) affiliate, explained that WVAS's audience will be treated to its two newest locally produced programs, titled “The Mommy Chronicles” and “Women in Business…Talk!” which will both air on Monday evenings on 90.7 FM.
THE MOMMY CHRONICLES SHOW
“The Mommy Chronicles,” will air weekly on Mondays at 6 p.m.
"The Mommy Chronicles is hosted by Dr. Denise Davis-Maye and Tonya Scott-Williams of ASU’s Department of Social Work...and will focus on issues that impact women, families, children and our community," Capel said. "It will also offer listeners tools and strategies to help create environments conducive to these groups. The most compelling appeal of the program is that it will deliver useful and practical information in bite-sized pieces for easy application by listeners."
WOMEN IN BUSINESS PROGRAM
Local small business owner, Valerie Smedley, is the host of “Women in Business…Talk!” that may be heard on the first and third Mondays of each month at 6:30 p.m.
"Women business owners and future proprietors will be treated on this new WVAS program to conversations with other women entrepreneurs, business service organizations and qualified experts about those issues that affect this cohort more often than others," stated Capel. "Its intent is to offer support to women businesspersons and to encourage the development of the next generation of female entrepreneurs."
