*Note: Alabama State University is a test-optional institution. See the table below to determine your placement level. Although we have waived test scores for admission to the University, the waiver does not apply to students seeking academic scholarships.

BEGINNING FRESHMEN
Applicants who have earned a diploma from any high school and who meet the requirements in the sliding scale below (or GED certificate) who demonstrate that they can benefit from and contribute to the University’s educational program and goals will be fully admitted to the University.

Complete the online application for admission (Online)
- Indicate your desired major on the application.

Deadlines
Your application, deposit, transcript, and ACT/SAT scores must be received by the Office of Admissions & Recruitment no later than May 10 for Summer Semester and July 30 for Fall Semester.

Campus Tours
Whether you’re a prospective student considering a visit to Alabama State University as part of your college search or a community member attending an event on our campus, we’ll do everything possible to make your visit a rewarding experience.
Spring campus tours are offered Monday through Friday at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., or 3 p.m. Tours must be scheduled at least 72 hours in advance.

Advanced Placement
If you score a 3, 4 or 5 on advanced placement (AP) exams and you have a minimum GPA of 3.0, you may qualify for course credit or advanced placement. To be considered, send all AP test scores to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment during the application process.
Special Admissions
If you’re interested in taking classes at ASU but don’t want to get your degree, you can apply for admission as a special student. To do so, you must:
- Complete the on-line application for admission (Online).
- Send all of the following to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment:
- $30 application fee
- Completed Undergraduate Special Student Classification Form
