Dr. Praseetha Subbarayan, joined ASU as a faculty in Fall 2012. Dr. Subbarayan, received her bachelor degree in Microbiology in Kumararani Meena Muthiah College, Chennai, India and continued with her Master's program (Industrial Microbiology) in University of Madras, Chennai, India. In the year 2003 she relocated to the United State to pursue higher education. She received her second Master's (M.Ag) in Plant Pathology from Auburn University, Auburn in Spring 2004. In 2006, she joined ASU to pursue her Ph.D (Microbiology) with Dr. Shree Singh. In May 2011, Alabama State University awarded the first doctorate degree in microbiology during its 283rd Commencement Exercises and Dr. Subbarayan was one of three students graduating in the first cohort. Dr. Subbarayan, has one year of Post Doctoral training at ASU with Dr. Shree Singh and Dr. Vida Dennis and now has joined as a faculty. She has also served as an adjunct instructor teaching undergraduate biology courses at ASU. Her research focus is onencapsulation of vaccines and drugs in various nanomaterials for effective delivery.
