Alabama State University alumna Dr. Rolanda Horn, who holds two degrees from O' Mother Dear (ASU 2000-B.S. and ASU 2019-Ph.D.), has been selected as the chair-elect for the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators' (NASPA) Center for Women. She has been serving on its board for the last two years.

Dr. Horn explained that NASPA is a "diverse international organization" with more than 15,000 members who serve in the field of student affairs. She stated that in 2001, NASPA established what is now known as the Center for Women, which according to its mission, amplifies issues concerning individuals who identify as women in higher education. Dr. Horn has served on several of NASPA’s committees, most recently the strategic planning task force.

Horn, whose full-time position is director of Assessment for Selma's Wallace Community College, credits her education at Alabama State University with giving her the catalyst she needed both to earn a doctoral degree and to hold important leadership positions in organizations such as NASPA.

"I am humbled to be able to work for and serve the membership of the national association of my profession," Horn said. "And I must thank Alabama State University for all it has done to help me be the best that I can be in my chosen profession."
