Alabama State University students interested in  pursuing a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) now have a greater opportunity to enhance their educational and career experience through paid apprenticeships and fellowships, via the Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP).

The AEOP apprenticeships and fellowships program is administered by the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in New York on behalf of the U.S. Army.

"AEOP is an Army and Department of Defense-funded program for undergraduates through post-doctoral students interested in STEM fields," stated Brit Milazzo, communication and marketing manager with RIT, in an email. "It gives participants the opportunity to work alongside world-renowned scientists and engineers at facilities across the nation directly benefiting the mission of the country (but without donning the uniform or committing to join the military).

He explained that these paid experiences can place ASU students in hands-on research and innovation situations by working on projects they're most passionate about in the STEM arena.

INFORMATION FOR ASU STUDENTS

AEOP applications are now open and available for Alabama State University students at https://apps.ideal-logic.com/ritreg?key=5HCZ-DDY7S_K9KH-5PTF_6821736e9420.

"One of the cool things that can come out of this is the opportunity to be eligible for a scholarship through the Department of Defense – the SMART scholarship – which not only pays for a student’s education and education-related expenses but also provides them with a guaranteed job after graduation...doing something that complements their degree or field of study."

If Bama State students desire more information or are interested in participating in an apprenticeship or fellowship, they may call the following number (585-475-7177) or email the following address  aeopapprenticeships@rit.edu  or just click on the following link  www.usaeop.com/apprenticeships-fellowships
