One of Alabama State University’s annual touchtone events returns -- The President’s Gala! President Quinton T. Ross Jr.’s event is best described as an evening of glamour, glitz, entertainment, dinner, dancing, donor recognition, student highlights and entertainment. The ticketed event is Friday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel and Spa at the Convention Center.  A Pre-Gala reception at 6 p.m. kicks off the event.

"I am extremely excited to host the 2022 President's Gala. Over the years, the Gala has proven to be a signature event for the city of Montgomery as we welcome the hundreds of guests who are there to celebrate the University and its local, national and global impact. We are grateful to those who share their 'time, talent and treasures' with this great University as we work to fulfill our mission of providing academic excellence for our students,” Ross said.

RAHEEM DEVAUGHN TO PERFORM

The evening’s entertainment features the incredible sounds of three-time Grammy-nominated National R&B Recording Artist Raheem DeVaughn, whose songs include “Woman,” “Customer” and “If I Don’t,” his latest single release from his album “Raheem DeVaughn Presents From Lust Till Dawn.”

COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS

In light of COVID-19, the Gala will follow the same safety protocols that were established last year. All guests are asked to present a current vaccination card or a negative COVID-19 test taken after August 27. Masks will be required.

“We want to make sure that all of our guests have a safe and enjoyable evening as we recognize our partners for their support of the University’s students,” said Col. Gregory Clark, ASU’s new Vice President for Institutional Advancement. “This is a wonderful opportunity for this community to show its love for Alabama State University. Given the response of previous years, we can expect to have another grand occasion with plenty of ‘Ole ‘Bama State Spirit’ on display.”

LABOR DAY CLASSIC WEEK

Seen as one of Montgomery’s premier events, the black-tie Gala is part of ASU’s 2022 Labor Day Classic Week, which draws thousands of alumni and other ASU supporters to campus to enjoy the festivities, including tailgating, the Hornet Walk for the ASU football team, Pre-Game Block Party, the Mighty Marching Hornets, the Sting Stage with live performances, and much more. Some Labor Day Classic events are specifically for ASU students; others are open to the public.

Individual tickets to the Gala are $250 and a table of 10 is $3,000. Sponsorships are available.  All proceeds will be used to benefit the strategic and student-focused initiatives of ASU. Tickets are on sale now.
