Scholar in Denmark Representing ASU at Financial Conference

Student Represents ASU in Denmark at International Financial Conference

An Alabama State University student who earlier won a $10,000 Vulcan Materials Company scholarship at the 2022 Magic City Classic, has again brought honor to the University as being one of a select-group of interns selected worldwide to attend the recently held 'Global Advantage Program' in Copenhagen, Denmark.

 

Tre'von Conner, a finance major at Alabama State University, joined an elite group of students from across the U.S.A., Germany, Italy, Norway and elsewhere to attend the week-long concentrated conference and workshop, which brought together college interns from the prestigious Big-Four international accounting firm, KPMG, to study and network in the capital of Denmark.

"I am humbled to have been among the people selected to attend and participate in this intensive educational event, which gave me the opportunity to travel overseas and gain valuable leadership skills, a global business perspective, and a competitive career edge by my association with one of the world's most successful and famous financial services and accounting firms, which sponsored the event," Conner said.

 

ATTENDING ASU MADE IT POSSIBLE

The Mobile, Ala., native who also serves as the treasurer of ASU's Student Government Association, said his experience was possible because of ASU and the gifted faculty members who teach and mentor him within  the Dr. Percy J. Vaughn College of Business Administration (COBA).

 

"Once I graduate, my career goals are either financial services or management consulting, and because of the first-rate faculty members in Alabama State University's COBA, I will have a competitive edge that will put me on the same playing field as students from any other school. Alabama State has taught me the business expertise that allows me to compete with students at any college of business," explained Conner. "Also, ASU and its faculty members, especially Professor Kim Smith, introduced me to one of the world's Big-Four accounting firms (KPMG), which has changed my life for the better and that will help me have a successful career in the world of business."
