Due to the forecast of inclement weather on Friday, May 6, Alabama State University’s Spring Commencement Ceremony has been moved to the University’s Dunn-Oliver Acadome from the ASU Stadium.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we will move the Spring 2022 Commencement Convocation to the Acadome,” said Dr. Carl S. Pettis, ASU’s provost and vice president for Academic Affairs.

“Because of COVID-19, we began holding graduation ceremonies in The ASU Stadium in the Fall of 2020. The new venue for the ceremonies was so well received, that we made the decision to continue this practice. Transitioning to the Acadome has always been our contingency plan for weather considerations. Our Commencement Committee is in the process of making the shift and notifying students. We will make the transition as seamless as possible for our graduates and their families.”

Pettis said that Commencement will be held in two ceremonies and will remain a ticketed event. Graduates have already received their allotment of 10 tickets each.

The ASU Commencement ceremonies will be live streamed on the University’s YouTube channel.
