Internationally known soprano Cordelia Anderson, ASU assistant professor in Vocal Studies in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, is a featured singer in Opera Birmingham’s Christmas presentation “Sounds of the Season.” The family-friendly concert will be held on Sunday, Dec. 19, at 2:30 p.m. at Samford University’s Brock Recital Hall.
Dr. Anderson, who recently was featured in three performances in Nami, Italy, performed for the unveiling of the U.S stamp of world-renowned opera singer Marian Anderson
“I am very excited about the Holiday Concert with Opera Birmingham. It's an honor to return to my hometown as a featured artist with this wonderful company, who has made it their business to highlight talent in classical music who are natives of Birmingham,” Anderson said.
Joining Anderson will be tenor Elias Hendricks, who has performed on London’s West End and appeared on “Britain’s Got Talent” with his group Vox Fortura. There also will be performances by the artists of the Opera Birmingham Studio at Samford University and the Opera Birmingham Chamber Choir.
Dr. Cordelia said the concert will be filled with traditional Christmas carols and spirituals and other beloved holiday songs.
