The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies program offers educational opportunities not available through traditional degree programs. Our unique and flexible approach to interdisciplinary learning lets you build the course of study that prepares you for the workplace or graduate program of your dreams.

You’ll combine a university-wide interdisciplinary studies sequence with a multidisciplinary concentration — drawing on the resources of every College and School in ASU to create a one-of-a-kind degree focused on interdisciplinary learning.

If your entrance exam scores happen to fall below the minimum standards on an approved placement test, University College offers instructional support courses and resources to ensure that success in higher education is always within reach. Through geography courses, interdisciplinary learning and the Freshmen Experience Orientation Program, University College will prepare you to excel in college and beyond. Learn the fundamentals of time and money management, goal-setting and study skills.

Welcome to University College, where students’ success is our priority.

We are the academic unit of the first-year experience for new students entering Alabama State University. Our goal is to assist students through a variety of services and programs to ensure optimal success and progress.

The first year can be challenging for any student because of the added and new responsibilities; therefore, we are the academic unit that helps students transition from high school to college. This academic unit provides a firm foundation for lifelong learning during students’ earliest time at the university. This is achieved through providing course offerings and resources to support student learning outcomes.

Resources and services in University College include: the Department of Advancement Studies, the Orientation Program-Freshmen Experience Course, the W.E.B. Du Bois Honors Program, the College Reading Program, and TRIO Programs. Additionally, University College is an academic unit that partners with campus units and student support programs to help students have an excellent start. However, any student who needs academic support services and career awareness assistance may contact us.
