GREETINGS FROM THE DEAN
Welcome to the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) at Alabama State University! We are proud of the quality of the education and research of our College; and inspired by the capabilities, achievements and innovativeness of our students, graduates, faculty, and staff. As we continue on our CSTEM trajectory of excellence, we invite you to visit us to learn more about how you can be part of our future.
We are located in the heart of the state and national civil rights city of Montgomery, the capital of Alabama. Our bachelors, masters, and doctoral degree programs are distributed across various departments –Biological Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Physical/Forensic Sciences and Mathematics & Computer Science.
The work of our students and faculty members are internationally recognized.
At the CSTEM, we have a rich and well established legacy of producing some of the
most outstanding scientists that include biologists, physical scientists, chemists,
computer scientists, forensic chemists, forensic scientists, mathematicians, microbiologists,
technologists and engineers in the nation. Our graduates are skilled in critical
thinking, leadership, creative design, and the application of technological and scientific
solutions to complex and challenging problems, interpersonal relations and teamwork.
We have a long and distinguished tradition of excellence in all of our educational
programs; and our faculty and students are conducting pioneering research focused
on creating nationally and globally-relevant solutions and on providing advanced methods
and products for improving quality of life.
We are particularly proud of being the home of the National Science Foundation’s Center for NanoBiotechnology Research (CNBR) and in collaborative partnerships with national and international Universities.
The College is also home to two newly established centers – the Center of Excellence for Communication Systems and Image Processing (CECSIP) and the STEM Center of Excellence for Modeling and Simulation Research (SCEMSR). Together, our College’s educational and research endeavors have resulted in the CSTEM’s
increase in enrollment in our undergraduate and graduate students; attracting also
an increase in the CSTEM’s annual research awards in recent years.
This is a wonderful time to be a part of Alabama State University’s College of Science,
Technology, Engineering and Math. The college aspires to expand to the other STEM
fields of study including the engineering and technology programs. We encourage you
to learn more about us and invite you to visit our campus to see first-hand what sets
us apart in excellence and education. Synergize your strengths with ours as we fulfill
Our Vision: To have a more inclusive, socially connected, and scholarly STEM Education.
And as we leave up to the spirit our College motto: “…..redefining the boundaries
beyond our imaginations…..”
